Psychological Wellness

Gratitude photo

Our physical health is intimately connected to our psychological wellness. Personally, I notice when my attitude is negative, I feel it in my body as aches and pains, sometimes even illness. I am clear that this lack of psycho-emotional wellness can be healed just as physical disease can be healed. While teaching health education at the Sanoviv Medical Institute in the Psycho-Spiritual (Body-Mind) Department, I saw remarkable healings occur in the body as a result of various psychological interventions, including biofeedback, stress reduction, talk therapy, meditation, humor and positive psychology.

I read the book 'The New IQ' last year and it changed my life in a way that was more profound than many of the therapeutic models I have been involved in. I had the experience that my psychological wellness had shifted in a major way. Here is an article from The Sanoviv Medical Institute that is an interview with the book's author.

It's very challenging trying to be successful and maintaining a balance between work and recreation, professional life and personal life, self-discipline and impulsiveness. Being self-employed, this topic is very important to me. There are many times I find myself getting into workaholic mode, at the expense of my health. One of my daily goals is always to find balance between my ambitions and my health. I first heard Denis Wailtey speak at a Usana Health Sciences meeting and he has been an inspiration to me ever since. I hope you enjoy his articles.

Research has shown that your attitude affects your brain, body and emotions. Adopting attitudes such as gratitude and appreciation can have a profound effect on your body's health. Let a positive attitude be part of your daily wellness practice. The HeartMath Institute has done extensive research in this field and we even used their methodology in the Psychology Department at The Sanoviv Medical Institute when I worked there.
