Literally, I owe a good deal of my good health to the high quality supplements that I take. That's why they play such a large role in this website. When my mother's Rheumatoid Arthritis got so bad she could barely walk, I looked for some alternative treatment for her. I read all the books I could, and concluded that the experts said to give her a variety of vitamins, plus nsaids. I followed their advice and she had a remarkable turn around. When my father was battling bone cancer, the treatment was brutal. It left him barely able to walk or talk. Again, I scoured the literature and found that high dosage multi-antioxidants helped with recovery from chemotherapy. So, against his doctors advice, I gave him a high quality vitamin and antioxidant formula and he quickly recovered his health. Coupled with the chemotherapy, he lived three years longer than his doctors predicted.

I first read one of Dr. Strand's books in 1997 and I've been a fan of his ever since. I have followed his advice over the years for myself and my clients. In this article, he gives a good overview and specific recommendations for a personal health program.
Dr. Ray Strand's article on vitamins From the viewpoint of a scientific researcher, are studies showing that vitamins, minerals and antioxidants are effective valid and appropriate? Tim Wood, PhD, looks at the years of studies and offers a professional opinion in this paper. Is There A Scientific Basis For Supplementation? I discovered a scientific book that analyzes all the multi-vitamins and tells us which are the best. So, I decided to include an article from a magazine that interviewed it's author.“There's a broad -- and surprising -- range out there, from marginal quality to excellent products,” Mr MacWilliam says of the hundreds of brands available. So he decided to consolidate the best expert data out there to come up with an 'ideal' standard, called the Blended Standard. “I thought it was important to come up with a scientific rationale for deciding which is the right supplementation,” he says. He compiled the daily recommended intakes from seven highly noted nutritionists for the Blended Standard (see below) to assess which products have quality formulations. “This gives us a baseline and an analytical tool to analyze the products in the market,” he says.
